World Map Tracking Every hurricane and typhoon for the last 25 years. UPDATE

Image source.  The storms that make US news aren't the main ones.  The doldrums are a safe area which include Indonesia but exclude northern Australia and Vietnam.   Many take place in the ocean west of Mexico affecting shipping but not land.  There are a couple tracks north of Scotland and off Uruguay.  The Bay of Bengal has many deadly typhoons but the Philippines see far more threats.  Hurricanes over land are common in China and almost as common inland in south-eastern United States but the bulk occur over water.
